Eyelets have been around for ages and scrappers have found a way to implement into scrapbook layouts. They are a great way to attach pictures and embellishments to scrapbook pages or simply to add color, interest and dimension. They come in a variety of sizes, colors and shapes; from round to flowers to stars to hearts… the possibilities are endless. Eyelets help draw attention to a focal point on your scrapbook page. Ribbon can be threaded through larger eyelets to add texture; charms can be hung from them to add dimension; eyelets can attach vellum without the dilemma of glue showing through. Eyelet setter tools have quickly evolved and Making Memories has yet again developed another fabulous scrapbook tool.
The Making Memories Instant Eyelet Setter was specifically made with the scrapbooker in mind. With its spring-loaded setting action, it is easy on the hands and much softer on the ears. However, it does still make some noise but dims in comparison to the eyelet setters that use a hammer!!! The Instant Setter has a durable rubber grip handle that makes setting eyelets comfortable and the tension can be adjusted with a simple turn of the handle. Counter-clockwise will give you a softer punch and clockwise will give you a firmer punch. Either way, you get the perfect set with Making Memories Instant Eyelet Setter. In addition, the head of the setter is magnetic, allowing for easy and fast tip changes. The Setter comes with as Setting Mat, four Setting tips and three Hole Punch tips all packaged in Making Memories’ signature metal tin. No more searching for the hammer, or this piece or that. Even the Setter Mat conveniently stores in the metal tin. In addition, you can coordinate the Instant Setter with Making Memories Stamping Die Set for impeccable embossing.
If you are unfamiliar with using the Making Memories Instant Setter, here are brief instructions on the tool. The Setter has great versatility and convenience. Once you use it you are sure to fall in love.
To punch a hole:
1. Select a hole punch tip and slip into the magnetized tool head.
2. Place your paper on the setting mat.
3. Position your tool anywhere on the paper over the setting mat where you would like to create a hole.
4. Hold tool vertical and press straight down until you feel it click.
To set an eyelet:
1. After punching a hole following the above instructions, replace the hole punch tip with the coordinating size setting tip.
2. Slip an eyelet into the hole and hold it securely in place as you turn the page over.
3. Hold tool vertical and press straight down on the eyelet until you feel it click.
4. You may need to press the eyelet more than once to achieve the desired effect. The back of the eyelet will split and resemble “flower petals” when properly set. Since the eyelet spreads out into a flower shape, the eyelet remains very thin after it is attached. This will leave your pages feeling less bulking but looking more beautiful.
*The "right" side will be your finished view.
Embossing:
1. This tool coordinates with the Making Memories Stamping Die Set.
2. Simply select a die and place it in the tool head.
3. Press the tool straight down over your paper until you feel it click.
4. Adjust the handle tension to create the desired embossed effect.
Note: All instructions have been adapted from the Making Memories product information on the Instant Eyelet Setter.
